Bar Association Records Resources

About Bar Association Records

A bar association is a professional organization of lawyers. In some states, membership in the bar association is mandatory in order to practice law in that state. Some bar associations regulate the legal profession in their state while other state bar associations are more organizations with the purpose of member service. Many state bar associations have member searching available to the public so as to determine an attorney's membership status as well as the area of law in which he or she practices. Some search results may include disciplinary actions or other status information. Furthermore, bar assocations frequently provide attorney referral services to assist the public in choosing and hiring appropriate legal counsel.
