About Sex Offender Records
Sex offenders are persons who have been convicted of sex crimes including rape, statutory rape, sexual abuse, and sexual crimes against children such as child sexual abuse or possessing child pornography. Sex offenders are generally classified by category with the higher the category number, for example category 3, the more likely the person is deemed to reoffend. Many states offer online sex offender databases whereby one may search for sex offenders by name and view detailed information about the offender, including photos. Other sex offender databases including mapping applications where one can input a city, county or an exact address and view registered sex offenders within a designated proximity.
