Lebanon County was formed in 1813 from parts of Dauphin and Lancaster Counties. Its county seat and largest (and only) city is Lebanon. Lebanon County also has 7 boroughs and 18 townships. It shares its borders with Dauphin County on the north and west, Lancaster County on the south, Berks County on the east, and Schuylkill County on the northeast. The county was first settled in 1723 by German farmers -- also known as "Pennsylvania Dutch" -- and remains mostly agricultural today. Lebanon County's larger western watershed drains into the Susquehanna River, which flows into Chesapeake Bay. Its eastern watershed drains into the Schuylkill River, which flows into Delaware Bay.
