Christian County is the 11th most populous county in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and the 2nd largest county by land area. It is located along the southern border of Kentucky. Formed in 1797, Christian County is named for Colonel William Christian, a native of Augusta County, Virginia, and a veteran of the Revolutionary War. Christian County is bordered by Hopkins County; Muhlenberg County; Todd County; Trigg County; Caldwell County, Montgomery County, Tennessee; and Stewart County, Tennessee. There are five cities within Christian County. The largest city, and county seat of Christian County, is the city of Hopkinsville. Hopkinsville-Christian County is home to a wide range of businesses and industries. Local industries provide a range of services and manufactured products. It has also been a strong and consistent leader in the production of corn, winter wheat, soybeans, and tobacco.
