- Chancery Courts - 20 districts. These courts handle the following case types:

- Traffic, Parking, and Infractions.
- County Courts - 20 counties. These courts handle the following case types:
- Civil - torts, contracts, and real property rights for claims up to $75,000.
- Civil - adoption, domestic relations, and paternity.
- Misdemeanor.
- Preliminary hearings.
- Municipal Courts - 220 courts. These courts handle the following case types:
- Misdemeanor.
- Traffic and ordinance violations.
Property Tax Records
Mississippi real and personal property tax records are kept by the Tax Assessor in each county.
