- District Courts - 42 courts. These courts handle the following case types:

- Water Courts - 7 courts. These courts handle the following case types:
- Limited Jurisdiction / Lower Courts
- County Courts - one or more courts for each county in Colorado. These courts handle the following case types:
- Civil - torts, contracts, and real property rights for claims to $15,000, small claims.
- Criminal felony, misdemeanor, and DWI/DUI.
- Traffic, parking, and infractions.
- Juvenile.
- Municipal Courts - 250+ courts. These courts handle the following case types:
- Traffic, parking, ordinance, and infractions.
Property Tax Records
Colorado real and personal property tax records are kept by the Tax Assessor in each county.
Deeds and Document Recording
Colorado deeds and general document recording are handled by the County Clerk and Recorder in each county. Records kept include
deeds, mortgage documents, easements, powers of attorney, and liens.
Vital Records
Birth records for the entire state are available for the years 1910 to present. The person named on the record, members of the immediate family, legal representatives of those named above, and others demonstrating a direct and tangible interest in the record may request a copy.
Death records for the entire state are available for the years 1900 to present. Certified copies may be issued to: parents; grandparents; stepparents; siblings; spouse; adult children, stepchildren or grandchildren of the deceased; legal representatives of any of the above; legal representatives of the deceased; probate researchers; genealogists representing family members with appropriate credentials; others who may demonstrate a direct and tangible interest when information is needed for determination or protection of a personal property right.
Marriage records for the entire state are available for the following years: 1900 to 1939, and 1975 to present. Verifications for the years 1940 to 1974 are not available from this office and must be obtained from the county where the license was obtained.
Dissolution (divorce, separation and annulment) records for the entire state are available for the following years: 1851 to 1939 and 1968 to present. Verifications for the years 1940 to 1967 are not available from this office and must be obtained from the county where the dissolution was decreed.
