Ohio Vital Statistics Directory

Vital records include birth, death, marriage, and divorce records. The Ohio Department of Health, Vital Statistics Office manages birth and death records, as well as abstracts of marriage and divorce records.

Birth records are available from December 20, 1908 to present and death records are available from January 1, 1954 to present. Record requests can be made in person, by mail, or online. Each county also has a local health department where records are managed for births and deaths that occurred in that county.

Divorce and marriage abstracts are available from January 1, 1954 to present from the Office of Vital Statistics in person, by mail, or online. Full copies of marriage records must be obtained from the county Probate Court in the county where the marriage license was issued. Full divorce records are available from the County Clerk of Court in the county where the divorce was finalized.
