About Business Licenses in New Mexico

The New Mexico Secretary of State Operations Division is responsible for filings including partnership registrations, trademark/service mark registrations, Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) filings, service of process on corporations, and agricultural liens. UCC filing records are available online. All other record requests can be made to the Operations Division in person, by mail, or by phone. Corporation and limited liability company filings are managed by the Corporations Bureau of the Public Regulation Commission. Records requests can be made by mail or fax.

Most professional licensing records are managed by the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department (RLD). The RLD is responsible for alcohol and gaming, construction industries, financial institutions, manufactured housing, securities, and boards and commissions for over 30 other professions. Online access is available for professional records managed by the RLD.

Attorney licensing is managed by the New Mexico Bar Association. Online records searches are available whereby searches can be performed by name, law firm, city, county, or practice area.
