About Business Licenses in Mississippi

The Mississippi Secretary of State Business Services division is responsible for business and corporate records. Corporations, limited liability companies, limited liability partnerships, and nonprofit corporations all file documents through the Secretary of State. An online searchable database is available, whereby business record searches can be performed by business name, business identification number, officer name, or registered agent name.

Mississippi has various boards which manage the licensing of many professions, including architects, chiropractors, cosmetologists, dentists, dietitians, geologists, doctors, and psychologists. Most boards offer an online searchable database whereby professional records searches can be performed by name, location, license number, or license type. Where online searches are not available, information can be obtained by contacting the board in person, by mail, by phone, or by email in some cases. The State of Mississippi manages a database which provides access to each professional board.

The licensing of attorneys is managed by the Mississippi Bar Association. An online searchable database is available, whereby searches for attorney professional records can be performed by name, law firm, or city.
