Kansas Vital Statistics Directory

Birth, death, marriage, and divorce records are managed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment Office of Vital Statistics. These vital records managed by the Office of Vital Statistics are not public in Kansas, and therefore access is only available to the registrant, immediate family members, legal guardians or representatives, and those proving an interest in the record.

Birth and death records are available from July 1, 1911 to present. Birth and death records prior to 1911 can be found with the Clerk of District Court in the county where the event occurred.

Marriage records are available from July 1, 1913 to present. Marriage records prior to 1913 can be found with the Clerk of District Court in the county where the event occurred.

Divorce certificates are available from the Office of Vital Statistics from July 1, 1951 to present. Divorce decrees must be obtained through the Clerk of District Court in the county where the divorce was filed along with divorce certificates prior to 1951.

Marriage and divorce records managed by the Clerk of District Court are public records.

Certified copies of vital records are not available for viewing online, however they can be ordered online. Vital records can also be ordered in person, via mail, via phone, or via fax.
