Arkansas Vital Statistics Directory

The Arkansas Vital Records office is responsible for birth, death, marriage, and divorce records. Arkansas Vital Records are restricted and therefore not public records. However, under Arkansas law, restricted records can be released to the registrant, relatives of the registrant, designated relatives, academic research groups, or those demonstrating a right to the record.

For those allowed access to the records, birth records are available from 1914 to present. Birth records are restricted for 100 years, so a birth record will become a public record 100 years after the event. Arkansas death records are restricted for 50 years. Death records are available from 1914 to present. For a select few counties, death records are also available between 1881 and 1914.

Marriage coupons are available from 1917 to present. Divorce coupons are available from 1923 to present. These records are also restricted. The actual marriage license or divorce decree can be found with Circuit Court Clerk in the county where the marriage or divorce occurred. For the few circuit courts with online access to court records, marriage and divorce records searches can be performed online.

While some online options exist for acquiring vital records, requests can also be made directly to the Arkansas Vital Records department or Circuit Court Clerk.
